Hitler gained an overwhelming amount of support by fabricating causes to Germany's problems and then introduced simple solutions to them. First, he created scapegoats--the Allies, Communists, Jews--which appealed to German pride. He then worked to rid Germany of the scapegoats, which included Crystal Night. He then implemented economic reforms such as creating jobs to help war veterans. Lastly, he blamed the Weimar government for the discontent within Germany; his solution was a new state-driven government that he led.
  • Scapegoats
    • Hitler gave the people a scapegoat (Jews, Allies, Communists, members of the old government) to give them a reason for why Germany was in the position that they were in; he strategically made the people turn their backs on those scapegoats and embrace him as their savior.
  • Economic Relief
    • Germany's economy was extremely fragile after the war, and Hitler introduced many economic reforms to help strengthen it, including reforms to create jobs that would help war veterans.
  • New Government
    • Hitler decided to break away from the old style of government which was very refreshing to the German people; they wanted to embrace anything that was different from the past; his governmental style was also different than democracy, which had been tried out unsuccessfully in an attempt to heal Germany from the damage the war had caused
